The government is going to take a common prelims exam for the non-gazetted posts in the central government. The government has decided to conduct a Common Eligibility Test (CET) in place of prelims exams for all the government departments. The score of the exam is used to select the candidates for the higher level of examination by the different organizations for select candidates for the posts. The test scores will be valid for a period of three years and will be conducted twice a year. This is going to help all the government aspirants, as there will be no need to fill different applications for the different exams and they have to prepare for a single exam now. 

The Union Cabinet has given its nod for the setup of a National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to streamline the hiring process by conducting a CET. The National Recruitment Agency (NRA) will be nodal agency to conduct CET every year. The CET will replace the prelims level tests conducted by the different agencies for the recruitment of non-gazetted posts.

➤ The exam will be conducted in 12 languages.

➤ The score is valid for three years.

➤ The exam will be conducted twice a year.

Exams To Be Subsumed Under CET
All the prelims exams of Group B and C posts will be subsumed into a single common eligibility test (CET). The National Recruitment Agency will initially aim at replacing the preliminary exams of Group B and C posts conducted by three government agencies namely:

➤ Staff Selection Commission (SSC),

➤ Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), and

➤ Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).

Aspirants have to give only a single preliminary examination for the exams conducted by these agencies.

NRA CET 2021: Scores Used By
The score of CET will hold a great value in getting Jobs whether it is government, PSU's jobs, or a private job. According to Jitendra Singh's statement in the press conference, the CET score will be used by not only the state and central government but also the public sector undertaking (PSUs) and private organizations to weeding out the non-serious candidates. The mains objective of the CET is to save time, cost and also fasten the recruitment process. Organizations other than SSC, IBPS, and RRB using the CET score are:

➤ State Recruiting Agencies,

➤ Various Union Territories Agencies,

➤ Public Sector Undertakings, and

➤ Private Companies (with some agreements)

CET 2021: Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the CET 2021 will be same as it is now for graduate, 12th passed and 10th standard students. There will be 3 levels of exam namely, undergraduate, 12th level exam, and 10th level exam. There is no change in the eligibility of the exam. Candidates no need to panic as it is a single prelims exam only, otherwise there will be no change in eligibility.

➤ A CET will be a single prelims exam that will be held for all IBPS, SSC, and RRB posts.

➤ NRA will be an autonomous body to conduct the CET exam.

➤ Candidates need to pay a one-time fee for all the CET exam.

➤ There will be one standard for the exam and a single exam will save money as well as time.

➤ NRA will conduct the CET examination- Common Eligibility Test.

➤ CET will be a single online prelims exam.

➤ The CET score will be valid for three years.

➤ The CET score will be shared with all the central government recruiting agencies.

➤ Each candidate will have two additional chances to improve his or her scores and the best scores will be taken into consideration.

➤ Every district will have at least one exam center.

➤ There will be separate CET for graduate, higher secondary, and secondary level students.

➤ There will be a separate syllabus for CET based on the qualification.

➤ As per the PIB, the score of successful candidates of CET can be utilized by State Governments also.
